Mark Freedman, Partner

Mark is a Partner at Wellspring based in New York City. Mark has led strategy projects for non-profits, government, and the private sector for over 30 years. Mark has advised Boards and senior leaders at US-based and global NGOs in strategic planning, governance, financial sustainability, alliances and mergers.

 

Previously Mark served as Partner and Senior Advisor at Dalberg Advisors in New York City, a global social impact consulting firm, and as a Senior Partner of the Boston Consulting Group, including 17 years in the BCG Paris office and 10 years in New York City. At BCG Mark served as global leader for Industrial Goods, was on the global leadership team of the Social Impact Practice Network, and headed BCG's partnership with Save the Children International. Mark built and led the local government practice in New York City for both firms, working on a variety of assignments in social and economic development in and for the City.

 

Mark’s passion for social equity was formed earlier in his career, spending 7 years in Africa with Save the Children-US leading self-help community development programs.

 

Mark serves on the Board of Safe Horizon in New York City, a leading agency protecting victims of domestic violence, serving as Vice-Chair of the Anti-Racism Committee, and on Save the Children’s Corporate Council. Mark earned an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar, and a BA and Master’s degree from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs.
